Botanical means “plant-related.”

This is the study of plants for scientific purposes. Think of growth, structure, and classification. A botanist, therefore, studies the plant kingdom. Botanical gardens are created for scientific and educational purposes. They are often open to the public, with an entrance fee contributing to the cost of the garden. A botanical garden is also intended to help plants threatened with extinction flourish. A botanical garden is a feast for the eyes.

The Lilium Stargazer, Lilium Orientalis, is a hybrid lily from the Oriental lily family. These lilies are known for their delightful fragrance. Like the Dahlia, I find lilies to be beautiful flowers, and they also come in many varieties. In the illustration, I’ve depicted this lily with the specific characteristics that distinguish it from other varieties. In other words, the botanical version, where the stem base, leaves and veins, color, and everything else are depicted in meticulous detail. I bought a bunch of these beauties and enjoyed drawing them. Meanwhile, my nose was also delighted by the delightful fragrance. The Lilium Stargazer is a lily I love…!
